State of the School Address 2024

It is my privilege to present the State of the School Address for DR. VICTORIA B. ROMAN MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL. As we gather today, I would like to highlight our accomplishments, current statistics, and the invaluable support we receive from our community.

SOSA

First, let us look at our enrolment numbers. In our Junior High School (JHS), we have a total of 368 students, with 202 males and 166 females. In our Senior High School (SHS), we have 88 students, comprising 51 males and 35 females. These numbers reflect our continued commitment to providing education to all our students, ensuring a balanced and inclusive learning environment.

Our school takes pride in maintaining a teacher-student ratio of 1:20, which enables more personalized and effective teaching. Additionally, our classroom-student ratio stands at 1:30, ensuring that each student has ample space to learn and grow.

However, we recognize the challenges we face, particularly with dropout and failure rates. In JHS, our dropout rate is 4.13%, and our failure rate matches this figure. In SHS, the dropout rate is 1.43%, and the failure rate is 0.71%. While these numbers are relatively low, we strive to lower them further, ensuring every student has the opportunity to complete their education.

Our completion rates are commendable, with JHS at 95.04% and SHS at 88%. These figures reflect our students' perseverance and our teachers' dedication. We are proud of these achievements and remain committed to further improving these outcomes.

The support from our local government and community partners has been instrumental in our success. We are immensely grateful to Governor Joet Garcia for the continued support of the Provincial School Board (PSB). The provision of PSB teachers has been crucial in addressing our teacher shortage, ensuring that our students receive quality education without interruption.

Moreover, initiatives like eTUPAD have been vital in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our school premises. A clean environment is essential for effective learning, and the eTUPAD program has significantly contributed to this cause.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Charlie Pizarro and the Local School Board (LSB) for medals and their unwavering support, especially to the school programs, projects and activities. The medals provided for our Recognition, Moving-Up, and Graduation Ceremonies symbolize the achievements and hard work of our students. These gestures of recognition are highly motivating and cherished by our students and their families.

The state of our school is strong and continues to thrive thanks to the collaborative efforts of our educators, students, parents, and community leaders. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones, and I am confident that we will continue to progress and overcome any challenges that come our way.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school's mission. Let us keep working together to provide the best possible education for our students and shape a brighter future for all.
